Access Arrangements Assessment

An Access Arrangement assessment includes the approved tests that provide evidence for reasonable adjustments for learners with special educational needs and disabilities during examinations (GCSE, AS and A Level). These arrangements may include extra time, word processor, reader or a scribe and must reflect the student's normal way of working. A private assessment may provide evidence to support this decision, but the school cannot be compelled to accept an independently commissioned report for the purposes of access arrangements. In order for our report to be used for access arrangements, the school/college would need to accept us as an approved assessor. The decision to provide access arrangements in examinations always rests with the Head of Centre (Headteacher).

Access Arrangement Support for SENCos and Schools

As an experienced SENDCo, I am aware of the demand of implementing access arrangement in schools. I can offer a bespoke service to meet the school’s needs which includes:
  • Assessing identified learners and completing Part 2 of JCQ Form 8
  • Training for support staff who act as readers, scribes or prompters.
  • Support and guidance for SENCos in completing Form 8.
  • Providing guidance on JCQ regulations and update.
  • All test papers included and supplied to school for evidence.
  • Staff training on access arrangements
To comply with JCQ regulations, we require at least a skeleton Part 1 of the JCQ Form 8 completed before any assessment can take place. We can assess students individually and in small groups depending on the assessments needed.

Assessment Cost

The fee for schools and colleges is £100 for a single assessment. If several students require assessments, discounts are available.

Training for scribes and readers @£125 per session

Mrs Oliyide supported my child with access arrangements. She was prompt with carrying out the assessment and producing the report which helped my son’s college to apply for his access arrangement. She went above and beyond with also supporting the college in understanding the JCQ requirements.

Mrs S, Birmingham

Tosin has been supporting our centre with access arrangements and supporting our learners with study skills. She is professional and efficient with her assessments and reporting. She builds an excellent rapport with the students.

Independent College, Birmingham

Tosin provided a training session on ‘Supporting learners with dyslexia’ to our teaching staff. The session was informative and practical and helped our staff to develop classroom strategies to support learners in the classroom.

Secondary School, Birmingham

I was referred to Tosin by a school as our daughter was struggling with reading. Tosin carried out a diagnostic assessment with her which enabled us and her school to provide the right support for her.

Parent, West Midlands

Tosin did a parenting workshop for the parents in our organisation. Our parents found the session enjoyable and informative.
